Another good read Brian! I like the music that you selected I think the music should be louder, especially in places where the madness begins. The deep dark thick forest, calls to those that want to end the insanity of reality.
I ran a marathon a couple of years ago in Seattle, WA I had to urinate so bad I couldn't hold it in anymore. On my route, I found a path that I thought was way out of sight of people seeing me urinate. After I did my peeing I realized I was lost in this massive forest I began to panic I was going in all directions trying to find my way out! I began hearing noises leaves crunching and getting louder coming my way. I fell to my knees and said a little prayer when I had finished I looked up and there sitting on the ground was a beautiful dog looking at me. I got up off my knees and slowly went to him. I asked him kindly if he could help me find my way out. He understood and walked me out of the forest that day I felt a sense of relief and cried my eyes out for a good thirty minutes. I was safe.
Thanks for the feedback! This is helpful as I construct future podcasts. I'm just glad it wasn't the Dogman that greeted you, and it was an actual dog! I've been lost in the woods before, and it's a scary experience. Although, you have to admit, it's both a fun and scary story to tell people and makes for interesting conversation starter.
okay, I finally came back to listen to this. Really nice job on the audio--your vocals are great. The minor hesitation I had on my first read disappeared and I felt more captivated by this audio version. The only thing I'd say is that I find the background music levels just a bit too high. Now you've given me encouragement to try this.
Thanks Tom! I did think the same thing about the audio after giving it another listen. It's nice to get that feedback. I could have dialed it back by about 15 percent, especially in the part where it gets intense in the middle. One thing that helps if you want to try is to limit the speaking parts, so you don't have to do voices if you don't want, or, you can go all in at once and give it a try. I was too shy to try some dialogue my first go around.
Oh yeah, doing dialogue with different voices is hard--I’ve heard some that’s convincing, other that’s awful. Malcolm Gladwell’s production team sure has done some cool stuff with audiobooks.
Hey, that was really fun--will go back and listen to the audio version later after I walk by the Slough. I’ve heard there’s this monster seal out there.
Great story, Brian! It is definitely one to be told around a campfire. The audio narration and the production is outstanding, too. Did you use a certain program? The music in the intro and outro added a haunting/spooky element to the narration. The entire production is high quality from start to finish - kudos to you! 😀
Thanks Justin! I appreciate you listening and the feedback. I use a free audio editing program called Audacity. Many of the sounds come from Freesound.org, I create them myself or I can use them because they came with other licensed software I own. It was a great learning experience, and now I'm practicing my deep narrator voice 😁

Cool, I'll check those out! I can probably listen to them via our library app, which has audio books 👍
Enjoyed your story .The ending was really good. The twist at the end
Thank you Pauline! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I figure it was better than them both being eaten 😁
Nice work on the audio!
Thank you Olga!

Lol, that sounds like a story in the making. What's better than coming up with a new folk tale about monster seals!
